Kite Tube
To kite tube is to take flight behind a boat within a tube. This arose as a variant of the more standard recreational action of being towed over the water's surface within an inner tube. When such a tube reaches a high speed, it may take flight.
This is because the body of the kite tube tends to work as an airfoil. This is the shape of a wing, blade, or sail, as seen in cross-section. Its forward movement creates a perpendicular force or lift. As a result, the tube becomes a kite.
A commercial kite tube was made available due to the popularity of the practice. Unfortunately, though attempts were made to create a more functional design, the practice was still incredibly dangerous. 39 injuries and two deaths resulted during the 9 months the product was offered. It has since be recalled due to its dangerous nature.
